Stress affects people in different ways. I become quite withdrawn when at these stages and my mind goes into overdrive stressing about many different things.
Other people suffer from panic attacks, become very shaky and nervous, feel sick in the stomach, become sad and can begin to think in a very negative way.
Most of the conditions I have described above are actually a mental and not so much of a physical problem. This is why I believe meditation to be an excellent form of stress relief or stress management.
I know all about the benefits of meditation and stress. Stuttering ruined my early life and caused me to lose a lot of my self-confidence. I worked hard to stop stuttering and was eventually rewarded with fluency at the age of 21.
Stress and worry also affected my work life within the composite door company where I held quite a senior position. At time I would worry far too much about the trivialities of work.
The main benefits of meditation:
It can lower your heart rate
It relaxes your breathing and can even make it slower
It can lower blood pressure
It can increase your self-esteem by making you think in a more positive way
Helps you to think in a more logical and clear way
Helps you to reduce stress
Some of the forms of meditation:
Walking meditation
Mandala meditation
Yoga meditation
Sitting meditation
Prayer meditation
Visualisation meditation
I personally prefer the sitting meditation. I now like to meditate around 3 or 4 times a day, where possible. At the start I was quite unsure as to the whole aspect of meditation and whether it would prove to be beneficial. I must admit that I really found it hard to fully focus at this point. With practice and realising that I needed this to work for me, I managed to get enough concentration and focus to see the full benefits.
A lot of the people in my circle of friends think that I am a bit mad, including my best friends Dave and Pete who work providing people with web promotion tips. They can not believe that I actually just sit there and think. Meditation has had such a positive effect on my life and continues to do so, therefore my friends can mock as much as they like. I actually believe that some of them should try it themselves but they always laugh at the suggestion.

Is it a panic attack or an anxiety disorder? Are you suffering from one or both? These two things are more or less both sides of the same coin.
You can suffer the same group of symptoms from either of these conditions. No matter how mild or severe your symptoms. You will know about it if you get an attack.
Whether you call them panic attacks or an anxiety disorder. It’s important to get control as soon as possible. Something, anything that helps to keep these symptoms under control.
I know how bad these symptoms can get and I know how urgent the need is for some help. Of course, many different drugs are available to help with these attacks. I’d advise getting a proper check-up as soon as possible just in case anything more sinister is going on.
If you are sure you have a panic or anxiety disorder. My advice would be to opt for a non drug treatment. There are a few reasons why I would say that.
Number one, you should (if possible) avoid the risk of side effects with drugs. Then you have the fact that any drug treatment is at best a short term thing. Most doctors would be wary of having you on long term medication.
It’s a certainty that most doctors would have you stop the drugs sooner rather than later. But what if I come off the drugs you might ask. Indeed that’s a very good point.
I think you’ll be pleased to know that you don’t need to rely on drugs. There are other methods that will work better. And there are no drugs or medication needed. No drugs or (costly) hypnotherapy sessions.
Other anxiety sufferers conquered their problems without drugs and knew they needed to spread the word. These systems & methods show you how to read the signs of a coming panic attack. And then quickly stamping down on them and halting an attack before it starts.
It’s your choice, carry on with the panic attacks and anxiety disorder. Or decide to take control and teach yourself some killer techniques.
