“Learn Why Cuban Art Makes an Impression in Your Soul That Will Last a Lifetime”

In the country of Cuba, everything is black or white, never anything in between. Just like many in Southern European countries, people’s doors are always open.Cubans share their lives willingly with friends, family, neighbours and even strangers – their doors are rarely closed. Occasionally you may find a house or two with their door shut closed. These rare few choose to live life quietly estranged from the world around them. Whatever the case may be they will always let you know what they think and what they feel, because Cubans tend to be upfront and honest, never fake, which I prefer. If someone does not agree with what I have to say then I want them to tell me honestly what they think rather than smile and lie to my face by saying “That’s wonderful, what a great idea!”  This trait of Cuban personality also speaks through their art as you will notice, as many Cuban artists create works of art displaying the reality of the world as they see and experience it and not what they wished it would be.

Cuban Art can easily be described as magical. It will inspire and amaze you, sending chills down your spine. When you stare into many Cuban Art pieces expect to see it as is – Cuban Art rarely has hidden messages embedded into the background scenery. The Cubans are extremely straightforward and charming and so is their art.

The History of Cuban Art – Where It All Evolved From

Cuban Art is a diverse cultural blend of African, European and North American drawings, paintings and other forms of art.In their art is reflected the variety of ethnic origins which make up the population of the island. Cuban artists have embraced both older and more modern European lifestyles and incorporated them into an even more contemporary realm. The demand and popularity for the work of Cuban artists is partly due to the combination of these three major elements and the creativity that has burst forth as a result.

Cuban artists have a reputation for focusing their work on things which would not necessarily be tackled easily in other cultures. Cuban artists enjoy creating pieces that the display principles they grew up with; paintings showing the beauty of their community and the wonderful people who live within that community. They have managed to produce works of art which remain positive in the face of difficult circumstance, and this has had an effect on the art community around the world.

The Carribean island of Cuba is inhabited by many talented individuals. One of those talented artists is Maykel Herrera. Herrera was born in the Village of Camavey, Cuba, in 1979 and has quickly become one of the most exciting artists of his generation, earning a deserved reputation as the one of the best Cuban artists around. Herrera is currently living in Havana.  Recently, Maykel Herrera was nominated as one of the 10 artists going into the prestigious World Artist Show, to international acclaim.

Cuban Art Today

The best way to describe today’s Cuban artists is – exciting, passionate, and intriguing all mixed up into one big bowl with a dash of salsa to spice it up even more so! Contemporary Cuban Art exhibits much of the international language that speaks for our own new generation, but with unique steamy visions all of its own. Besides the elegance, beauty and true artistry, Cuban Art is an outstanding way for Cuban artists to express their feelings, thoughts and their vibrations embedded deep in their souls. If the success of Cuban Art continues to evolve as rapidly as it currently is, perhaps a bridge will evolve that will enable art lovers worldwide to cross over and appreciate the unique beauty that Cuban art has to offer.

As we speak of Cuban artists, I would like to introduce another prominent Cuban artist by the name of Oscar Gato. Gato is a well-known artist in Cuba; he lives on the fringe of Havana with his wife and 11-year-old daughter. Oscar is a passionate artist and his paintings carry a very powerful invigorating message. The creativity and ability in his art is phenomenal. Gato captures detail and atmosphere in his images. His artwork renders one speechless and words would not even do justice to his creative abilities as an artist.

Another fabulous Cuban artist is Alfredo Soria. Alfredo Soria a young inspiring artist was born on January 6, 1981, in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba. Soria graduated as plastic artist in Fernández Morera Academy of Plastic Arts in 2005. In spite of his young age, Soria has developed a successful career and has become one of the leading and most prominent artists of his time. Soria’s work is meticulous and his eye for detail is outstanding – a quality that is hard for an artist to acquire. He has already achieved more in the last couple of years than many artists ever will.Deliberate realism is a particular emphasis in his work. The art community has recognised and rewarded Soria’s art.The world awaits the further talent which is surely developing inside this young artist!

There are no words to describe how lucky we are to be surrounded with such creative individuals who have the capabilities to see the beauty in things many of us are blind to.The ability to see beyond the obvious and the everyday is a rare gift. They carry an amazing skill to take the beauty they envision and put it on a canvas, painting or object of their liking for the rest of the world to see. Artists are teachers with the innovative skills to help society rise to a higher level of understanding. Cuban artists have acquired this magnificent skill and they demonstrate this skill with the works of art they present to the world around them.
