I love exploring the web.  The other day I found this site http://drbl.sourceforge.net/donation/ which I found while browsing some Linux resources pages.  I also like surfing sites that talk about pets such as dogs and cats.  What I love the most though is finding out about new gadgets such as new cell phones and things of that nature.  I also like to see what kind of deals I can find on Amazon and Ebay.  It’s hard to believe that roughly before 1993 the general public didn’t have access to the internet.  Which brings me to realize that a lot of businesses wouldn’t be able to exist today without the internet.  It’s amazing at the wealth of knowledge that exists right at our fingertips.  Just doing a little search on the internet uncovers an abundance of knowledge.

It’s very fascinating to watch my children use the web.  Kids can catch on amazingly fast.  Just the other day one of my kids showed me how he has figured out how to use Google.  I was quite impressed.  I have begun to teach my children how to use the define function as well as the other custom searches.  I think it’s great that IPhones and other smartphones have become so common.  It’s so easy to just look up what a word means, or what something such as a disease or condition is all about right after the physician gives you your diagnosis.

When you think about how fast you can learn about a subject compared to before the web was available its astounding.  You can start digging into several thousand results right before you to your heart’s content.  Sometimes we take things for granted, but technology truly is amazing when you stop and take it in.  You can go from clueless to expert in a few hours with some highly focused research.

Looking up addresses and phone numbers from reverse telephone searches is a neat little trick I love to use.  I have found out who someone is before I answer the phone even when they block their identity.  Being able to do online banking is also very nice.  Downloading a digital book is of the coolest things.  There’s no shipping or waiting.  One minute you’re reading about the book, the next minute you are reading it.  Talk about instant gratification! As the guy said on the commercial “It is a great time to be alive!”
