Want to be happy, healthy, and balanced mentally and spiritually? Sounds like you’re looking for a life of abundance. But how do you begin? when you develop abundance you need both internal changes and external actions. If you want to attract abundance, first you must be willing to rethink the way you process information and events and talk about them, as well. Instead of your old, negative mental and emotional reactions or responses, you must change your beliefs and thought patterns to get different results. It’s all about how you approach your life, but you can change your life for the better.

Everyone lives in an abundant universe but not everyone experiences that abundance equally. One of the most important steps in the process of developing abundance is to open up the channels for receiving it. Unresolved issues can block the flow of good into people’s lives. Unforgiveness, anxiety, guilt, shame, anger, and other negative attitudes and emotions can actually blind people to the good available to them and even repel positive experiences.

If we are to experience abundance, we must first confront and defeat our own demons. It is a sad fact that victims become victimized. It’s rather like a self fulfilling prophecy, whereby people expect to be badly done by. They open themselves up to wrong doing, and as a consequence, increase the chances of being wrongly done by. They always fear the worst, and very often, so, it happens. That is why one must be ready to forget the past, and past dealings, and be prepared to treat each new occurrence with a fresh and positive frame of mind, and in that way, true abundance can be achieved.

Developing abundance is in fact developing one’s self. We need to analyze the way that we think, the way that we react to events as they unfold. We need to spot the patterns that our past behavior has fallen into, and we need to be ready to change those patterns, to heal past hurts and open the door to abundance.

Change is never easy. But in today’s modern society there are many ways that help can be gained. Things like CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), applied kinesiology and EFT are all methods currently being exploited by people in various walks of life. The essential basic to being able to develop abundance in your life is being determined to do so and to persevere.

However, developing abundance is not all about dealing with internal issues. Focussed action is also necessary. By setting goals and creating an action plan to achieve them, people can move from where they are now to where they want to be.

The road to abundance is trodden via a combination of inner change and outer focus. There are many people who although they are good goal setters and achievers don’t benefit from an abundant life because they simply do not believe or even see it. Having the benefit is no good if you do not know how to appreciate it. It is like having no benefit at all and cannot create happiness or contentment. To truly benefit from abundance you must first be able to recognize it, and second, you must be able to appreciate it.

When you learn to live abundantly, you can also help other people. You can share from your abundance and make their lives a better place. So creating an abundant life can be altruistic, too. It need not be all about you personally. But it will take some effort, work, and time to make the changes you need to make in your life to embrace abundance as it comes to you.

Saving the marriage from going to separation or divorce can be hard at times, but did you know it takes both of you to save the marriage? One of you is going to say it’s not me and the other going to say, but he or she is doing this. The question is why aren’t you both saving your marriage? Carbonated water eases the symptoms of indigestion (dyspepsia) and constipation, according to a recent study in the European Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Dyspepsia is characterized by a group of symptoms including pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen, early sense of fullness after eating, bloating, belching, nausea, and sometimes vomiting. Approximately 25% of people living in Western societies suffer from dyspepsia every year, and the condition accounts for 2 to 5% of all visits to primary care providers. Inadequate motion in the digestive tract (peristalsis) is believed to be an important cause of dyspepsia. Other gastrointestinal problems, such as irritable bowel syndrome and constipation, frequently accompany dyspepsia.

Antacid medications—over the counter acid neutralizers, prescription medicines that block stomach acid production, and medications that stimulate peristalsis—are primary treatments for dyspepsia. However, antacids can interfere with the digestion and absorption of nutrients, and there is a possible association between long-term use of the acid-blocking drugs and increased risk of stomach cancer. Other healthcare providers recommend dietary changes, such as eating small frequent meals, reducing fat intake, and identifying and avoiding specific aggravating foods. Smoking is prohibited to the patient of dyspepsia. Constipation is treated with increased water and fiber intake. Some practitioners prescribe laxative medicines,some may diagnose for food sensitivities and unbalanced bacteria of the colon and treat these alleviate constipation.

In this study, carbonated water was compared with tap water for its effect on dyspepsia, constipation, and general digestive function. Twenty-one people with indigestion and constipation were randomly assigned to drink at least 1.5 liters daily of either carbonated or tap water for at least 15 days or until the end of the 30-day trial. At the beginning and the end of the trial all of the participants were given indigestion and constipation questionnaires and tests to evaluate stomach fullness after eating, gastric emptying (movement of food out of the stomach), gallbladder emptying, and intestinal transit time (the time for ingested substances to travel from mouth to anus).

Scores on the dyspepsia and constipation questionnaires were significantly better for those treated with carbonated water than for those who drank tap water. Eight of the ten people in the carbonated water group had marked improvement in dyspepsia scores at the end of the trial, two had no change and one worsened. In contrast, seven of eleven people in the tap water group had worsening of dyspepsia scores, and only four experienced improvement. Constipation scores improved for eight people and worsened for two after carbonated water treatment, while scores for five people improved and six worsened in the tap water group. Further evaluation revealed that carbonated water specifically decreased early stomach fullness and increased gallbladder emptying, while tap water did not.

Carbonated water has been used for centuries to treat digestive complaints, yet virtually no research exists to support its effectiveness. The carbon dioxide and minerals like sodium, potassium, sulfate, fluoride, chloride, magnesium, and calcium were found more in the carbonated water used in this trial as compared to tap water. Other studies have shown that both the bubbles of carbon dioxide and the presence of high levels of minerals can stimulate digestive function. Additional research is needed to determine whether this mineral-rich carbonated water would be more effective at relieving dyspepsia than would carbonated tap water.

“Lead is the number-one environmental health threat to our children.” So says the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States. Those of us who have been around for a while remember the lead paint scare. After lead paint was outlawed, it took a while to remove or paint over the toxic covering. But that didn’t by any means end the ways lead can get into our bodies.

Of the five heavy metals that cause health concerns when ingested, lead, cadmium, mercury, aluminum, and beryllium, the first three cause the greatest risks. They do not help our bodies in any known way. Lead can be ingested in a wide variety of ways. Here are some: car batteries, cigarette smoke, cosmetics, hair dyes, pottery, lead solder, toothpastes,  metal polish, some colored inks, and many others.

One major way of ingesting these poisons is through drinking water. Old houses might still have lead pipes. Though copper replaced lead a long time ago, not all houses have been upgraded. Old well casings and storage tanks might also contain lead. City water is fed by wells or rivers and they inevitably contain some level of lead. The author checked his own city water system and found the level of lead in the water he receives is 2.5 parts per billion. Levels as high as 12 ppb are still within the limits. However, the last lead test on the water was done two years before the report was issued.

Concern over lead poisoning in city water systems only increases when one reads a report from the Washington Post. Their examination of 65 of the 3,000 largest utilities found that Portland, Maine, New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, and Providence, R.I. are “manipulating the results of tests used to detect lead in water, violating federal law and putting millions of Americans at risk.” The report further states that more than 250 major cities currently exceed the EPA’s lead standards, and many are using deceptive means in reporting of the problems.

Though lead has no known advantage to the body, it does cause known problems.  “Each year in the U.S., lead in drinking water contributes to 480,000 cases of learning disorders in children and 560,000 cases of hypertension in adult males.” We cannot totally rid ourselves of ingesting lead, but we can minimize the problem as much as possible.

Here is an edited list of some of the negative impact of lead on the human body: depression, dyslexia, emotional instability, encephalitis, epilepsy, fatigue, gout, hallucinations, headaches, hostility, hyperactivity, hypertension, hypothyroid, impotence, immune suppression, decreased IQ, indigestion, infertility, insomnia, irritability, joint pain, kidney disorders, learning disability, liver dysfunction, loss of will, memory loss (long term), menstrual problems, mood swings, muscle aches, muscle weakness, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis.

There is more to that list. Summing it up, the concern about lead poisoning center on kidney problems and nervous system damage. Though these are not the only problems, as you can see, they certainly are serious enough by themselves.

The next question is, what do we do about it? How can we protect our children from any possibility of the crippling effects of lead poisoning? First, check your house for lead paint and your water system for lead pipes. Second, filter your drinking and cooking water. A good activated carbon filter like the Black Berkey or their shower filter will remove 95% of the lead present in the water. That is a giant first step in providing safe water for yourself and your family.

are normally treated with antibiotics.Symptoms will usually disappear within a few days, but it’s necessary to finish all the medication.  If your dog was incontinent due to a bladder infection, the problem should go away quickly.

A weak bladder sphincter may be treated with hormone therapy.  Females receive DES (diethylstilbestrol), while males are treated with testosterone.  Your vet may want to try a drug that acts on the nerves in the muscles of the sphincter to help it close better.  This drug can be used in combination with hormone therapy too.

Natural Remedies For Incontinent Dogs

The treatments your vet has are very effective, but side effects are always a possibility.Antibiotics destroy all bacteria, whether they’re beneficial or harmful.The result of this is that your dog could develop another bladder infection once the antibiotics are gone. 

Hormone treatments are ongoing and can be expensive, while the medication used for the sphincter nerves can cause irritability, appetite suppression, and blood pressure changes.

The results of the second part of the Women’s Health Initiative (WIH), a federal study on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and breast cancer, were released December 13, 2008 at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. The new findings show that a much higher risk of breast cancer is one of several hormone replacement therapy side effects.

HRT Side Effects

The results of this new study indicate that the risks of HRT far outweigh the benefits for most women. Doctors believed estrogen and progestin replacement would prevent problems women face after menopause, including heart disease and bone loss.

The WIH had two parts. More than 16,000 women, matched by weight, age, and other health factors, participated in the first study. These women were randomly assigned to a group that took estrogen and progestin pills, or or to one that took a placebo.

The researchers found much higher risks of heart problems and breast cancer in women using female hormone replacement therapy. In fact, the risk of breast cancer increased by 26% among women using HRT, espcially for those women who used HRT for five years or more. This finding caused an early end to the first part of the WIH in 2002.

There were still questions, though. Did women who started on HRT when they first entered menopause in their 50’s, and who used HRT for shorter periods of time, still face higher risks of breast cancer and heart disease? Most of the women in the first study were in their 60s and well past menopause.

In the new study, researchers followed over 15,000 women who met the new criteria through July 2005. The researchers kept track of breast cancer cases as they occurred over time.

The results? The risk of breast cancer increased when women started HRT, hit a high point when the study ended, and then fell as nearly all the women stopped taking estrogen and progestin pills. Results at the high point showed that the breast cancer risk for HRT users was twice that of the others.

Is Hormone Replacement Therapy Really Safe?

Conventional medical practioners are quick to reassure their patients that most women won’t get breast cancer if they use HRT for a short time. They say that the increased cancer risk from using HRT for two years amounts to only a few extra cases of breast cancer per year for every 1000 women using estrogen and progestin pills.

That’s easy to say, but one unnecessary case of breast cancer is one too many. Plus the risk of breast cancer does go up the longer a woman uses HRT.
